Just over an hour later on the card, Richard Hannon's Energize looks the one to side with ahead of his handicap bow in the 19:55. The 3-y-o son of Pivotal has been steadily progressive in maidens thus far, producing his best effort when runner-up over this trip at Chester two weeks ago. Given a good-looking opening mark, he is fancied to make the most of tonight's opportunity in a reapplied tongue tie.
Finally, a chance is taken on Mambo Spirit in the concluding 21:00 handicap. This Invincible Spirit gelding put up his best effort on turf for some time when finishing a narrow fourth over over five-and-a-half furlongs at Bath on his latest start, denied a clear run until switching in the final part of the race. He appeals as still being favourably handicapped on these terms and can reward backers at attractive odds in what should prove to be a competitive event.
