King of Paradise (15:30) is a progressive three-year-old and he can hopefully get us off to a winning start in this afternoon's SmartPlays column. King of Paradise has won his last two starts, at this course, and he now bids to land the hat-trick upped in distance to nine furlongs. The way he travelled last time out, before responding well to pressure inside the closing stages, suggests he is in advance of his handicap mark and there is every reason to believe that he can win again. I'm Super Too sets the standard, but the Eric Alston runner is expected to improve past that rival and he should be too good for the remainder of the field.
This looks a fairly competitive renewal of the Glasgow Stakes (16:00), but Albamara is the one that gets the nod. Albamara impressed during her juvenile campaign last season, catching the eye when landing a maiden contest at the second time of asking before running in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile. She finished third to subsequent Lancashire Oaks winner Great Heavens on her seasonal reappearance at Newbury in a race which did not pan out favourably, being held up and taking her time to quicken, and Albamara looks set to improve for the extra furlong on offer this afternoon.
Tres Coronas (20:30) wasn't seen to best effect on his last outing and he can get back to winning ways now racing off his most recent winning mark. Tres Coronas is joint top in terms of Timeform ratings for what appears to be a relatively competitive handicap contest at Doncaster this evening, but David Barron's consistent five-year-old should have too much for the majority of his rivals. The ten furlongs on offer this evening seem to be his optimum these days, and Tres Coronas looks the type to at least finish in the frame if he gives his running, the gelding representing decent value at the 8.415/2 currently on offer.
