Action from Leicester, Hamilton Park and Brighton provide today's Smartplays...

We side with an unexposed type for our first SmartPlay in the shape of Excel's Beauty in the five-furlong nursery at Leicester (14:40). Her length-and-a-quarter win at Nottingham last time was comfortable enough to suggest there is more to come from James Tate's two-year-old, especially considering the strong record the yard has in this type of contest. She should prove too strong for the rest and can get us off to a winning start.

Next we head to Hamilton Park for the competitive nine-furlong handicap (15:30) in which Corton Lad gets the nod. Despite others coming into the race with solid form, two fine efforts off a similar mark coupled with a C&D win last month shows this likeable gelding could put the Keith Dalgleish team back in the winner's enclosure.

Our final bet today sees us travel a long way south to Brighton to back Cape of Hope in the five-furlong handicap (17:20). This strong-travelling three-year-old from the in-form Peter Chapple-Hyam yard has enough pace to handle the drop back in trip and should prove to be ahead of his mark. Back the exuberance of youth to prevail against older legs to ensure we end the day on a high.
