Softsong made an encouraging start to his chasing career when finishing a close-up third at Taunton last time, and he makes significant appeal off the same mark. Softsong had looked to be going the wrong way over hurdles, but his performance at Taunton shows that he's in decent heart now and is weighted to strike.
Towcester 15:20 - Assirem
The handicap hurdle at Sedgefield that Assirem finished runner-up in is working out extremely well, and he still looks well handicapped, mindful of the borderline-useful form that he showed in France. The switch to the up-and-coming Ben Pauling yard allied with the booking of Jason Maguire could have a positive impact, so the unexposed Assirem looks to hold leading claims.
Southwell 16:30 - Poppy Bond
Poppy Bond ran creditably when finishing runner-up here over a mile recently, and she can bounce back to winning ways on a surface that she clearly relishes. Poppy Bond was an impressive C&D winner earlier in the month, so the drop back to seven furlongs won't pose a problem, and she looks sure to be on the premises.
