Guards Chapel and Della Sun could well be the pair to focus on in an ordinary contest, with the former boasting the more scope for progress and fancied to go close in Fontwell's 15:45. The five-year-old was fit from the Flat and looked better than ever over hurdles when forging clear to land a handicap hurdle here last month. The assessor reacted with an 11 lb rise, but he is still considered even after that, with a respectable effort on the Flat nine days ago doing little to dent confidence.
Pearl Spice has Ryan Moore booked now back at 2m and he's still capable of a bit better over this trip. He can resume winning ways in the 16:05 at York at the main expense of Eagle Rock and the admirable Hawk Mountain. Pearl Spice has been in fine form of late, recording successes at both Nottingham and Kempton, and though he had his winning run ended under a penalty last time, the suspicion is that that was due to the sharp nature of the Musselburgh track rather than Pearl Spice going off the boil.
Belated handicap debutant Presenting Ruby is well treated on her Irish form, but prolific pointer She Is A Cracker deserves to win a race under Rules, and this looks a suitable opening. The eight-year-old was unlucky to bump into a well-handicapped rival when runner-up back under Rules at Worcester, with the pair finishing clear of the remainder. She should arguably have won at Huntingdon seven days later and remains well-in here.
