We kick off proceedings with opening five-furlong handicap (14:15) and the one to keep on side is Royal Brave. He went very close to a third victory of 2014 at Musselburgh last Friday, having won at Yarmouth in June and Sandown in July. He's clearly come into his own this year as he was also placed twice between those wins, and with no signs last time out to suggest he won't turn up in the same form here it will take a decent performance to beat him. Master of Suspense and Flying Bear both rate as dangers but few will line up in better nick than the selection and he's taken to capitalise.
We head to Ffos Las for the next contest under consideration, a fillies' handicap over ten furlongs (16:05) and with plenty boasting a similar profile it looks a tightly-knit affair. Narrow preference is given to Every Time with the hope that the cheekpieces fitted this afternoon help her to concentrate. It's only been that attribute that has prevented her from putting in a big performance and if everything falls right then she could prove a cut above her rivals both this afternoon and in the future.
We return to Bath for the final contest under consideration, a staying handicap over an extended 17 furlongs (16:55) and it's hard to ignore the thriving Teak. He supplemented a couple of wins in decent staying handicaps on the flat with a victory over hurdles at Cartmel and like the first of our SmartPlays gave little reason to suggest late time out that he won't continue in similarly fine form. Anna Luna rates as a danger but providing nothing is amiss the selection will prove a tough nut to crack with his stamina assured and his attitude not in doubt.
