Some interesting chasing prospects clash in the 15:35 at Uttoxeter but we think that the Emma Lavelle-trained Le Bec can make a winning debut over fences. Impressive when scoring on his hurdles bow at Kempton 12 months ago, Le Bec subsequently produced a couple of creditable efforts when, it should be noted, that the Lavelle yard weren't firing on all cylinders. A chasing type on looks, the unexposed Le Bec ought to do better in this sphere, particularly as his yard has started to show signs of a revival this term, and he is an exciting prospect.
A case can be made for plenty in the 16:25 at Huntingdon but Mrs Peachey, who remains lightly raced over hurdles, holds the strongest claims and can take the competitive-looking handicap hurdle. A bumper winner, Mrs Peachey scored twice over hurdles earlier this year, winning at Towcester and Wetherby despite jumping poorly on the latter occasion, and she could still be open to a bit of improvement. Kim Bailey's six-year-old was disappointing when last seen at Aintree, weakening to finish fourth, but if she can brush up her jumping she could prove to be much better than a handicap mark of 113.
There are a number of horses with something to prove in the following race at Huntingdon (16:55), but one of the more solid options could be Susan Gardner's Southway Queen. A Point winner, Southway Queen twice finished runner-up at Newton Abbot in summer and, though a bit disappointing when only fourth at the same venue last time, she doesn't seem too badly treated relative to most of today's rivals. She has a reasonably solid profile and should put up a bold show.
