Timeform focus on the Flat racing at Nottingham on Sunday, providing you with three bets...

Sir Maximilian is lightly raced for a four-year-old sprinter and may be capable of taking the five-furlong handicap at 15:45. He hasn't been with his new trainer, Ian Williams, for long but the signs have been encouraging, winning a Newmarket handicap on his first start for the yard before shaping as if still in good form when finishing seventh in a competitive event at York. This assignment doesn't look anywhere near as stiff as the one he faced last time and, considering his lightly-raced profile, there may still be more to come.

Star of Mayfair has caught the eye on both starts this term and could be worth chancing in the 16:45. The Alan Jarvis-trained colt showed a glimmer of promise in maiden company as a two-year-old and seems to have started life in handicaps on a fair mark based on his two efforts in defeat this term. It is worth pointing out that there has been an element of awkwardness to his performances which does slightly temper enthusiasm, but it is worth giving him the benefit of the doubt for now and he could prove to be a well-treated horse.

Our final SmartPlay runs in the concluding race on the card, the 17:15, as we side with Honoured to go one better than he managed at Ripon on Tuesday. It is difficult to knock the consistency of Michael Appleby's six-year-old and his runner-up effort at Ripon was arguably as good as anything he has ever produced. Competing from the same mark here, there is little reason to suggest that he shouldn't give another good account.
