Rydan boasts some solid form in maidens and can get off the mark at the fourth attempt in the ten-furlong maiden at 14:25. A fair sixth on his debut at Kempton on his sole start as a juvenile, Rydan showed improved form when finishing fourth behind the promising Cannock Chase at Windsor, a race which has thrown up three subsequent winners. Rydan then took another step forward to fill the same position behind subsequent listed race winner Honor Bound in a race which has also worked out very well. A scopey sort, Rydan stills remains open to improvement as he develops with experience, and he can get us off to a flying start.
Secret Millionaire went through a good spell on the all-weather, registering back-to-back successes in March, and he ran a highly creditable race returning to turf at Brighton last time, finishing a close-up second. He has edged up 2 lb in the weights for that effort but still looks fairly treated and ought to make an impact in the five-furlong handicap at 15:30. Slip Sliding Away, ridden by star 3 lb claimer Oisin Murphy, and Moorhouse Lad both seem like big dangers, but Secret Millionaire, whose trainer saddled the winner of the Epsom Dash yesterday, appeals as the most solid proposition and is worth backing.
White Nile (16:05) is very lightly raced for a five-year-old and he made the perfect start for this yard when scoring at Kempton in April, seemingly relishing the two-mile trip. He has disappointed twice since, however, but one of those efforts came in the ultra-competitive Chester Cup and it was at a time when Ed Dunlop's string were struggling for form. There have been more encouraging signs coming from the yard in recent weeks, though, and White Nile, essentially still unexposed as a stayer, has been found a nice opportunity, with the booking of man-of-the moment Oisin Murphy adding to the horse's appeal.
