Southwell 13:40 - Thorpe Bay
Course specialist Thorpe Bay came up short in his bid for a fifth win at Southwell when finishing third over C&D recently, but it was still a creditable performance, and one which suggests that he's operating at the top of his game at present. It was a fair race for the grade that Thorpe Bay contested last time, and there was no shame in failing to reel in a couple of prominently-ridden rivals. This looks a decent opportunity and he looks sure to give a good account.
Plumpton 13:50 - Kilgeel Hill
This could boil down to a shootout between last-time-out winners Caracci Apache and Kilgeel Hill, with preference for the latter in receipt of 10 lb. Kilgeel Hill has made an encouraging start to life over hurdles, following up a good second at Fontwell with a win at Leicester, and he could still have more to offer. Kilgeel Hill is an uncomplicated type who jumps well, races enthusiastically and handles cut in the ground, so he should go extremely close.
Plumpton 14:50 - Adrenalin Flight
Adrenalin Flight's standout effort remains his close-up fourth in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival - and that is likely to remain the case -but he showed himself to be fairly treated when bouncing back to winning ways in the Devon Marathon, and he hasn't been hit too hard by the handicapper. He's a stout stayer, arrives in form and can call on the services of leading rider Richard Johnson for the first time, so has to be considered.
