Kasmir Peak and Sametegal met in a Grade 2 event at Doncaster in December and they renew rivalry in the 14:30 at Musselburgh that day. The former emerged on top by a length that day, in receipt of 3 lb, and with them racing of level weights today the Paul Nicholls-trained Sametegal is fancied to reverse the form. The four-year-old won in France at Enghien in April and made a successful start for his new yard when landing a listed event at Wetherby in November; both Sametegal and Kashmir Peak remain open to improvement but Sametegal is of most interest today.
With no shortage of likely pace forcers in Lingfield 14:40 things could set up nicely for a late-closer, with Safwaan the one to note. The six-year-old got himself back on the scoresheet at Wolverhampton in November and was arguably unlucky not to follow up that win over C&D last month, conceding first run to the eventual winner having been given too much to do. Circumstances look to be more in his favour this afternoon, and Safwaan is taken to make amends for that latest defeat.
Both Divine Rule and My Scat Daddy went close last time, whilst Aegean King would have to be of interest were the market to speak in his favour, but the Simon Dow-trained Litmus has been in decent form of late and is taken to land a quick-fire double. The four-year-old showed improved form to win at Kempton four days ago, having the race won from some way out, and she looks capable of defying a penalty incurred for that success here.
