We kick off proceedings with a handicap chase from Huntingdon over an extended two miles (14:25) and a chance is taken on Saddlers Deal to capitalise on a potentially favourable mark. He slightly disappointed on his debut for Brian Ellison last week, but if able to recapture the mood that saw him run out an impressive winner here earlier this month, he should be tough to beat. He has a 12 lb rise to contend with for that victory but he remains well treated on the pick of his old form and can capitalise if back on song.
We remain at Huntingdon for the next contest under consideration, a handicap hurdle over an extended two-and-a-half miles (16:10). Deadly Sting has got his act together and is a potential danger but he still looks pretty hard work and preference is given instead to Triumphant. Based on his ability on the flat he looks capable of significant improvement in this sphere and he made a promising debut over hurdles at Plumpton when keeping on for fourth. That suggested a step up in trip, which he encounters today, will suit and he looks capable of a bold bid here.
We head north to Kelso for our final bet of the day which comes in the handicap chase over 17 furlongs (16:25). Simply Ned proved straightforward and progressive in his novice chase campaign and there's no reason why that shouldn't continue this term, but he has to concede bundles of weight to a race-fit Scotch Warrior and as a result the latter should be kept on side. Scotch Warrior's best from has come over further but may be suited if this becomes a test of stamina and on the back of a decent win at Ayr in April and a good runner-up effort at Perth last month, if the rain arrives conditions will be at an optimum.
