Kingsbarns (15:05 Doncaster) is aiming to emulate Camelot by winning the feature RP trophy on the back of a sole maiden success, but his price looks very short based on what he has achieved. Granted, he looked like a good prospect when streaking eight lengths clear at Navan, but he is pitched in against significantly stronger rivals here. It is entirely plausible that he will eventually prove to be superior to his rivals, but, at the prices, we will opt for those with form in the book and lay Ballydoyle's representative.
Chepstow may not be to everyone's liking, but the Phillip Hobbs-trained Arthurian Legend (16:15 Chepstow) certainly enjoys his forays into Wales, having racked up three course victories, including a success in this race last year. There is a strong possibility that Arthurian Legend has been specifically targeted at this valuable prize and, with his rider claiming a useful 7 lb, he holds strong claims of backing up last year's win.
Our final SmartPlay comes in the following race at Chepstow, as we take a chance that Tataniano can also repeat last year's success. He hasn't been seen since that taking victory, but he has gone well fresh before and fitness is unlikely to be an issue. A 3 lb higher mark shouldn't prove a barrier to success and this fluent jumper should hopefully wrap things up in style.
