Timeform UK SmartPlays: Saturday March 19

It's Midlands Grand National day at Uttoxeter on Saturday

"He has long-appealed as the type of horse to relish extreme tests of stamina..."

Timeform pick out their three best bets in the UK on Saturday...

Blameitalonmyroots - Uttoxeter 15:00

The race that Blameitalonmyroots won last time at this track did not seem to be the strongest at the time, but the second has subsequently won twice, and a 3 lb rise in the weights seems fair in context. Oliver Sherwood is in excellent form at present, and after just two starts in handicaps over fences, his mare could easily have more to offer as she steps up in class here. Henri Parry Morgan bolted up on his third start over fences last time at Chepstow and looks the chief danger, though he will have to improve to defy at 13 lb rise in the weights.

Orbasa - Kempton 15:50

Orbasa held plenty of Cheltenham Festival entries when he won on debut for Paul Nicholls at Fontwell in February, and it could be seen to be significant that connections have opted for this less competitive affair instead, where there does not seem to be many other likely improvers. Orbasa is taken to improve passed the likes of Ballybolley, who may well be best back at 2m based on his third at Wetherby last time over 2½m.

Cogry - Uttoxeter 16:10

Cogry was disappointing in the Welsh Grand National when sent off at 8/1 but has long-appealed as the type of horse to relish extreme tests of stamina and is worth another chance to confirm his promise after running well over an inadequate trip at Warwick last time. Jim Dreaper won this race last year with Goonyella and his Sizing Coal, who was third in the Irish Grand National last year on just his third handicap start, could give the selection most to think about.
