Timeform UK SmartPlays: Monday September 29

Today's first bet comes from Newton Abbot

"Laser Blazer has yet to run a bad race over hurdles and gets the nod on his handicap debut in this sphere, a starting mark of 117 being perhaps a touch on the generous side."

Monday's SmartPlays comprise a bet from each of the day's UK meetings.

First to Newton Abbot, where we are interested in the feature race, a Class 3 handicap hurdle at 15:30. Laser Blazer has yet to run a bad race over hurdles and gets the nod on his handicap debut in this sphere, a starting mark of 117 being perhaps a touch on the generous side. Song Light is a big danger, along with Rayak, who leaves the impression he may have more to come.

At Hamilton, our best bet is Ellaal. He fared best of those ridden prominently in a strongly-run race when third last time and might be up to notching a fifth win of the year today, that evidence suggesting he's probably still well handicapped. The progressive Paddy's Rock is an obvious danger, while Disclosure could easily bounce back from a below-par effort in a stronger race last time.

That leaves Bath. Their 16:20 is a tightly-knit sprint handicap, and a chance is taken on Mambo Spirit who got back on track when third on the all-weather last time and could represent some value partnered by Oisin Murphy. Spray Tan, Burnt Cream, Molly Jones and Haadeeth are all closely matched on recent evidence and should once again get involved.
