We kick off proceedings with a fillies' handicap from Carlisle over an extended six furlongs (16:15) and Election Night looks to have an excellent chance. He won nicely at Redcar in May before two decent third placed efforts since at Hamilton and Ripon; on both those occasions he shaped as if he needed slightly further than a bare six furlongs, and it looks likely that the extra yardage he encounters today will see him to better effect. He looks to have more than enough ability to win off a mark of 70 and he's expected to improve sufficiently for the step up in trip to record his second win of the campaign.
It's the re-located Warwickshire Oaks from Nottingham (19:50) under consideration next and if Secret Gesture is anywhere near her best she should run out an impressive winner of this listed contest over ten furlongs. She's found the frame four times in Group 1 and 2 company since dotting up in last term's Lingfield Oaks Trial and she will have come on a good deal for her reappearance at York's Dante meeting, where she ran well to finish second. Although this looks an above-average renewal of the contest with the likes of We'll Go Walking and Rock Choir boasting progressive profiles, they should really be playing for place money against Ralph Beckett's excellent filly.
We head to Windsor for the final bet of the day which comes in a handicap over a mile (20:05) and Magique looks the one to keep on side. She ran well on her return at Newmarket, typically finishing strongly from well back, and returns to the scene of her last success over C&D in October. There are dangers in the form of Good Luck Charm and Black Dave who are both likely to be there in the closing stages, but if the selection can build on her last run she looks to have conditions at an optimum to repeat her last success here some eight months ago.
