Scommettitrice (14:45) has only won one race, a Chepstow maiden, in her career to date but she's shaped as if about to come to the boil in three starts since joining David Evans and makes plenty of appeal in the five-furlong handicap at Folkestone. Scommettitrice's best effort this year came when third off today's BHA mark in a handicap, also at Chepstow, over six furlongs last time and she has strong claims in a similar race if building on that. Bookiesindex Boy and Avonvalley are dangers but Cathy Gannon has been placed both times she's ridden Scommettitrice and the pair can combine successfully today.
To the wider racing public, Willie Twiston-Davies is perhaps best known for partnering Twiston-Davies 'family pet' Baby Run Aintree Fox Hunters' glory but he's been impressing plenty since temporarily switching codes and he can land the other sprint handicap at Folkestone aboard Mary's Pet (15:45). Lee Carter's recent Southwell winner was unfortunate to be collared in the closing stages on her turf return at Chepstow recently and can make amends off an identical official rating with Twiston-Davies's 7 lb claim reducing her burden further. At her best when the going is good to soft/soft, Mary's Pet looks a solid bet this afternoon.
Richard Hughes was unlucky in running aboard the strong-travelling Kyleakin Lass (19:40) when second to the reposing Wicked Wench over course and distance last time and the pair can set the record straight in the five-furlong handicap at Windsor this evening. A winner of a Kempton nursery off a BHA mark of 72 last December, Kyleakin Lass has been raised a further 3 lb for her latest effort and now runs off 81, but that mark looks surmountable, especially with Hughes (20% strike rate at a reasonable level-stakes profit for the Ian Wood yard) maintaining the partnership.
