Andrew Balding: Trainer of Swan Song.

Timeform suggest the three best bets on Bank Holiday Monday...

Epsom's five furlongs is widely regarded as one of the fastest in the country which seems certain to suit Swan Song in the 15:05. Andrew Balding's four-year-old remains fairly unexposed in sprinting terms and showed blistering speed at Ascot earlier this month, finishing third but actually showing some improvement upon her previous form, and though she only has a maiden win to her name she could well be adding to that here.

The three last-time-out maiden winners, namely New Street, Stars Over The Sea and Braidley, look the trio to focus on in Newcastle's 16:00, with the first mentioned awarded a narrow preference. The Richard Fahey-trained juvenile, who cost £105,000 as a yearling and is a brother to the useful Alrasm and sprinter New Pearl, bumped into one when finishing second on debut prior to progressing as expected to get off the mark at Redcar last month. There was little depth to that race but New Street did it well enough and looks sure to win more races, particularly with this step up to a mile anticipated to suit.

Mick Channon's Yojimbo has returned to form since being fitted with a visor, finishing third at Windsor and then second at Leicester, and he is taken to finally capitalise on his reduced mark. The five-year-old was arguably unlucky not to finish closer at Leicester last time, not enjoying the clearest of runs towards the finish, and he is very much one to be interested in with a repeat of that effort sure to see him go close.
