The one-mile minor event at 14:30 is a tight-knit affair but You're Fired is relatively low mileage compared to his rivals and could yet have more to offer, so he gets the vote. You're Fired signed off last season with a win at Kempton, impressing with the amount of ground that he made up to win, and he has been progressive this season, winning in cosy style at Haydock before running a cracker in a competitive handicap at the July meeting. He has run just once since, finishing fifth in a strong race over this C&D, and he is worth backing on his return from a break against largely-exposed rivals.
Telmeyd has unsurprisingly proven popular in the six-furlong handicap at 15:05 and he should be capable of resuming winning ways on the back of an unlucky defeat over C&D last time. William Haggas' charge was well backed on Shergar Cup day to complete the hat-trick but he blew his chance in the stalls, leaving himself with far too much ground to make up before rattling home to finish an eye-catching, never-nearer fourth. Telmeyd is expected to prove a cut above his rivals and can win this en route to better things.
It could be worth concentrating on the three-year-olds in the concluding two-mile handicap (16:50) and narrow preference is granted to Le Maitre Chat who is expected to improve for this stiffer test of stamina. Le Maitre Chat has yet to race beyond a mile and a half, but he shaped very well on his handicap bow at Ffos Las last time, going down fighting having responded very well for pressure, and he should be suited by the step up to two miles. Clive Cox's three-year-old remains completely unexposed granted a test of stamina and he is expected to show much improved form this afternoon.
