Our first bet of the day comes in the two-mile handicap chase for novices (14:10) in which Easydoesit gets the vote. He put in a much improved effort when opening his account over timber at Doncaster over this trip last week, and he competes today off the same mark on his chase bow. If his jumping is up to scratch then he looks to have something in hand on official ratings and he is narrowly preferred to Fitandproperjob who was a decisive winner in the mud at Leicester last week off today's mark.
It's a staying handicap hurdle up next (15:20) in which the resurgent Campbonnais looks to have an excellent chance. He took advantage of a reduced hurdling mark for Ali Brewer when winning at Fakenham recently and goes unpenalised for that success back up in trip today. Given that there are a number in the race who have been dealt with severely by the assessor, mainly Pudsey House and Hartforth, the selection should have too much in hand for the remainder. Big Sound, who has been the subject of market support overnight, probably rates as one to keep a keen eye on.
The final contest under consideration today is the 19-furlong handicap chase (15:55) in which both Pearls Legend and Kykate have the potential to be players if putting in clear rounds - both have failed to complete recently - but Chicklemix looks the one to keep on side after notching up her second chase win at Wetherby this month. She looked to have something in hand when scoring on that occasion and looks capable of making it a hat-trick today, despite the 6 lb rise. She has the ability to make further impact in this sphere and is a confident selection.
