Amore Mio has often looked hard work but he was clearly on a going day when bolting up under this rider here last week, and he has a huge chance of following up having avoided a penalty for that wide-margin win. Amore Mio isn't one to rely on, but he's evidently well handicapped based on his latest win, and is worth giving the benefit of the doubt.
Newcastle 14:20 - Present Lodger
Present Lodger failed to impress with his jumping on his first couple of outings as a chaser, but his fencing was much better when winning at Ayr last time. A 6 lb rise for last month's win looks fair and Present Lodger, who has made just three starts in this sphere, should be capable of taking another step forward.
Newcastle 16:30 - Deny
Deny has shown signs of temperament before, but he seems to be a reformed character nowadays and his win at Catterick last time is arguably worth marking up as he would have scored with greater ease had he not bungled the last. Deny recovered well from that error, finding plenty to win, and he still looks well treated under this revised mark.
