Timeform UK SmartPlays: Friday August 15

Our final bet on Friday runs at Newmarket

Timeform bring you a bet from three different venues on Friday...

Not many Swedish-bred horses go on to do well in the UK, but Epsom Hill has already shown he has talent and can build on it by winning the 15:20 at Newbury. Trained by Charlie Fellowes, who has been doing well in his maiden season, this three-year-old colt bolted up over one and a half miles when last seen at Thirsk. He's gone up in the weights for that victory, but should enjoy today's longer trip and is sure to handle the soft going. With largely-exposed types in opposition, he should go in again.

The manner in which Scallop won her maiden at Carlisle last time suggests she will go on improving and she can make it two wins from three starts in the 16:20 at Nottingham. She was strongly supported at Carlisle and easily saw off her five rivals, two of whom have since come out and won. Today's race is tougher, with Cay Dancer feared most, however Scallop has shown enough to suggest she should still come out on top.

Sunrise Star ran with credit when third on handicap debut at Nottingham last month and races off the same mark in the 18:00 at Newmarket. The drop to five furlongs did not appear to suit her at Nottingham as she was outpaced from three-out before making late headway. Back over six today, she should go close under reliable claimer Louis Steward. Don't Have It Then appears the principal threat.
