Newbury 13:40 - Green Law
We kick off proceedings with a handicap chase over an extended 18 furlongs from Newbury, in which Greenlaw looks the most likely winner. He is on a very lenient mark based on the pick of his hurdles form and his performance at Wetherby last month was a very encouraging one. Considering he helped to force a strong pace for much of the contest, he is worth rating as a good deal better than the distance beaten suggests and off a 4 lb lower mark looks to have found an excellent opportunity to gain compensation.
Ludlow 14:25 - Opening Batsman
It's another handicap chase, this time over three miles from Ludlow, under consideration next and the interesting one in the contest is Opening Batsman. He looks potentially thrown in on his best form and he shaped with much more encouragement on his return at Wincanton last month. If he is sharper for that reappearance, although this is a competitive race for the grade it still represents an easier task than those he has been faced with of late. It's hoped he can capitalise on the return to calmer waters and return to winning ways.
Kempton 19:10 - Magicalmysterytour
Our final bet of the day comes in a staying handicap over two miles from Kempton and Magicalmysterytour can't be ignored. He remains unexposed at this trip and he should be competitive from this sort of mark with his Southwell run easy to excuse. If he can reproduce the level of form which saw him win at Nottingham back in June then the task he is faced with this evening should be an easy one. That said, Haines is likely to come good at some stage and merits respect.
