Newbury 13:15 - Mahsoob
There are some unexposed, interesting types in the opening 10-furlong handicap, but the John Gosden-trained Mahsoob, a good winner on his only start to date, looks to have been let in lightly by the assessor and could prove difficult to beat. The form of Mahsoob's maiden has worked out well, he's in excellent hands and should progress, so he looks a good bet in the opener.
Newbury 14:50 - Ivawood
Ivawood established himself as one of last season's leading juveniles, building on the big impression made on debut to win the July Stakes and Richmond before narrowly losing out in the Middle Park, and he holds excellent claims on his return. Ivawood will appreciate the sound surface, should stay seven furlongs and reappears with his yard going well, so he gets the vote.
Newbury 15:25 - Buckstay
Buckstay produced mostly good efforts last season, including a fourth in the Cambridgeshire, and he returned with an excellent second in the Spring Mile at Doncaster last month, possibly getting to the front too soon. He holds leading claims off just 1 lb higher and looks sure to launch another bold bid.
