Sandown 14:20 - Basem
This may be competitive stuff but the lightly raced Basem looked a smart colt in the making when winning a handicap over course and distance last summer, and he may be able to make a successful return. A full-brother to the top-class Farhh, Basem showed plenty of promise during his first season of racing, and his pedigree offers hope that he'll carry on improving for a while yet.
Sandown 15:30 - Royal Brave
Course and distance winner Royal Brave arrives on the back of his best effort this season having finished runner-up at Lingfield last week, and he should make a bold bid from stall 1. A low draw is often a big advantage on the Sandown sprint course, and Royal Brave may be able to provide his in-form trainer with another winner.
York 15:45 - Scalzo
Scalzo and the unbeaten Twilight Son could be the pair to concentrate on, with the former taken to defy an 18 lb rise for his Haydock romp and make it 3 wins for the year. Scalzo looked to have been let in lightly on his handicap debut at Haydock but, even so, it's rare to see a sprint handicap won in such style, Scalzo looking a Group horse in the making as he streaked seven lengths clear. He can build on that positive impression by claiming this valuable prize.
