Timeform UK SmartPlays: Friday December 4

Two of Friday's bets come from Sandown

"With soft ground forecast, the standard-setting Francis of Assisi may struggle to reproduce his best form, being unproven beyond two miles."

Timeform's SmartPlays team pick out the best bets on Friday...

Mon Successeur - 13:10 Exeter

Rouge Et Blanc had the measure of Mon Successeur at Newbury last week, but there's plenty of reason to believe in a reversal of the form here. Rouge Et Blanc carries a penalty and will need to both avoid the bounce and have the headgear continue to serve to good effect. Mon Successeur, fully fit and still most unexposed, is a more solid option.

Dancing Shadow - 14:05 Sandown

This appeals as an above-average race of its type, but so was the one Dancing Shadow finished fourth in at Exeter a few weeks back. He shaped better than the result that day and, with the drop back in trip a help if anything, he can make his second chase start a winning one. A couple of chasing newcomers, the fragile Cloudy Beach (point winner) and Billbrook Blaze, may push him hardest.

Clondaw Cian - 14:40 Sandown

With soft ground forecast, the standard-setting Francis of Assisi may struggle to reproduce his best form, being unproven beyond two miles. Clondaw Cian hasn't competed at so high a level, but ploughed through the mud to win easily at Fontwell last time and may have things in his favour in order to go two-from-two over hurdles. Persian War winner Roadie Joe may struggle to win against this calibre of opponent under a penalty, but can run well.
