Midnight Appeal - 13:20 Newbury
Midnight Appeal was less error prone than usual when having his stamina stretched at Haydock last weekend. He is clearly in good heart and looks worth siding with back at this shorter trip. Bobcatbilly is of similar ilk and should also make his presence felt after shaping better than the bare result on his recent reappearance. Dushrembrandt and On Trend complete the shortlist.
Aurore d'Estruval - 14:05 Newcastle
Irving's position in the betting for the Fighting Fifth is understandable, but it remains to be seen if his heavy fall at Wincanton has left a mark, and he's taken on with impressive Wetherby winner Aurore d'Estruval, who looks open to more improvement and gets a handy allowance. Arctic Fire made an encouraging return at Down Royal and looks next best.
Broadway Buffalo - 14:40 Newcastle
Last year's one-two Hey Big Spender and Vintage Star seem sure to come to the fore again, but the one to be on is the unexposed Broadway Buffalo, who seems sure to relish the test and hails from the yard that won this in 2012. Indian Castle also makes some appeal having made an encouraging reappearance in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
