100/1 Matt Wallace was sixth after R1 at the Honda
Weather forecast for Thursday: It's a sunny day at Innisbrook Resort although it could be rather cool to start with. Winds could get quite testing in the morning which means the afternoon wave should have hotter conditions and less gusts. I'll put my faith in that and choose a trio of p.m starters.
There were four co-leaders after 18 holes last year and three teed off in the afternoon.
Cole can claim lead
Eric Cole so nearly became a PGA Tour winner for the first time when just missing out at the Honda Classic.
Inevitably after that close shave, he took a step back and missed the cut at Bay Hill after a Friday 80 but the 34-year-old responded with an impressive tied 27th at The Players Championship.
Cole was one of just six players to shoot two rounds in the 60s on the weekend so that must have given his growing confidence another massive boost.
But while he did his best work over the final 36 holes at Sawgrass, Cole has been taking the eye on Thursday in recent tournaments.
A 65 put him seventh after the first lap of The American Express, he was fifth following the first round at Pebble Beach thanks to a 66 while a 67 saw him sit sixth after 18 holes of the Honda Classic.
This is his tournament debut but there's no reason why he can't produce a fast start and 80/1 makes appeal from his 2.03pm tee-time.
Wu looks value
Dylan Wu also has an afternoon tee-time, the youngster heading out at 2.14pm local.
While Wu missed the cut last year, I'll take that as positive in terms of him now knowing what to expect here.
He shot 70-71 so was under-par when making his exit, very different to limping out after a pair of 75s.
Wu has had a good Florida Swing so far, taking 10th at the Honda Classic and posting 35th at The Players Championship.
He was 12th after day one at Sawgrass while he showed his ability to go low when blitzing a 61 in round three of The American Express back in January.
Give Wu a go at 100/1.
Wallace worth a punt
Matt Wallace tends to be hit-and-miss at the moment but there's enough good stuff in there to think he could pop up on the first-round leaderboard.
The Englishaman missed the Players cut but before that he was 29th in the Honda. More importantly, Wallace was sixth after day one at PGA National after carding a 67.
He started the calendar year with a pair of top 20s in Abu Dhabi and Dubai while he showed he enjoyed undulating courses by finishing runner-up at Crans-sur-Sierre in August. Wallace opened that European Masters with a 64.
The 1.52pm starter is also 100/1.
