The weather forecast ahead of this week's Scottish Open is changing all the time but there still appears to be an advantage to those drawn PM-AM. Tomorrow looks like being a gentler day than originally forecast, with any wind subsiding as the day goes on. The opposite occurs on Friday.
With that in mind, the unlucky runner-up of the 2018 edition, Eddie Pepperell, who will be well equipped to handle the weekend wind and rain, is worth chancing at 110.0109/1 and so too is last year's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship second, Matthew Southgate, who also enjoys what may transpire to be a favourable draw. Southgate is 200.0199/1 on the Exchange.
Southgate, who also finished tied for sixth at the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, will relish a return to a links course and his 66 on Sunday at the Irish Open should set him up nicely for a strong challenge at the Renaissance Club.
As detailed in my tournament preview, the only Scottish Open winner priced at bigger than 100/1 in the last five years was Brandon Stone, who denied Eddie Pep with a sensational final round 60 from off the pace. Stone was so badly out of form at the time that he went off at 1000.0999/1 so we can't rule out a shock winner in North Berwick but the chances of an upset look stronger on the PGA Tour...
Hot putter can aid Lashley's bid
The Sanderson Farms Championship returns to the Country Club of Jackson for the seventh time and given the first six winners were all outsiders, this is the tournament most likely to produce a big priced winner.
The last two victors, Sebastian Munoz and Cameron Champ, went off at around 70.069/1 but the previous four were all trading at triple-figure prices. I've already backed four players priced up at 150.0149/1 or bigger - you can read my reasoning the preview - and the one I like the best is Nate Lashley.
I made a case for Lashley in yesterday's preview but I failed to mention how well he putted last week in the Dominican Republic when finishing fourth. Lashley ranked sixth for Putting Average and he also ranked 16th for Greens In Regulation. A similar performance will put him in-contention here and given he romped to a six-stroke victory at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last year when the putter warmed up, he might just take some stopping.
