"Try to pick the winners of six selected races every Saturday. Scoop6 winners often walk away with more than £500,000!"
Anyone with a Betfair account can access our range of Tote products - including Scoop6, Placepot and Jackpot - which allow you to win big with small stakes. Here's the lowdown...
What is the tote?
The tote is a dividend paid out from a betting pool. Instead of offering fixed odds like traditional bookmakers, payouts are calculated after the off, when the betting pool is closed.
What types of bets can I place?
Scoop6 - Try to pick the winners of six selected races every Saturday. Scoop6 winners often walk away with more than £500,000!
Placepot - Every day at every British race meeting. Pick six placed horses in six races. It's a great, simple way to get a piece of the racing action throughout the week.
Jackpot - Every day except Saturday at selected meetings. Make a selection in each of the first six races. Regular rollovers mean that the jackpot can get very big, very quickly!
Quadpot - Like the Placepot, but over four races (usually races three to six). Because it's fewer races, the payouts are not as big, but Quadpots can still reach sizeable sums.
Exacta - Also known as a forecast, pick the winner and second place in the right order. A quick and easy bet with good payouts on the less expected results.
Trifecta - Predict first, second and third in races with eight or more runners. Harder to predict than the Exacta, but bigger winnings if you get it right!
Swinger - Pick 2 horses to come first, second or third. This bet gives three chances to win, and you don't necessarily have to pick the winner.
When can I bet on the tote?
Placepot, Jackpot, Quadpot and Scoop6 require a bet to be struck before the first race begins. E.G, a Placepot at Ascot must be placed before the first race at Ascot begins. Scoop6 races will vary from week to week.
Win, place exacta and trifecta bets must be placed before the race in question begins.
Can I place an each-way bet on the tote?
Yes, this would consist of one win bet and one place bet. The minimum stake on both is £2.
What is the minimum stake?

How is a place bet settled?
Places are determined by the number of runners in each race.

What happens if my horse is a non-runner?
If your selection is withdrawn, you will automatically be allocated the SP favourite. If there are joint or co favourites, the lowest saddlecloth number of the co favourites on the racecard will be selected. Should the favourite be withdrawn before coming under Starters Orders and too late for a new favourite to be made, the horse returned at the next shortest price will be taken. Where two or more horses are returned at the next shortest price, the one with the lowest racecard number will be taken. If no Starting Price is returned the first actual runner quoted in the Racing Post betting forecast will be taken.
