John Lackey must perform well if the Angels are to have chance of progressing
"It has been nine years since New York has played in the World Series and they are just one win away. I think the Angels will delay that moment for at least another game."
Nick Shiambouros reflects upon the Phillies win and looks ahead to the Angels' uphill struggle.
The Philadelphia Phillies roared in to the World Series on Wednesday night after a dominant display against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Phillies spanked the Dodgers 10-4 with some unbelievable hitting and won the series 4-1. The Phillies took the lead in the bottom of the first inning with a monster three run homer from Jason Worth and never looked back.
The Dodgers were never really a factor in this one sided series and were simply outclassed in every department. I was surprised Los Angeles could not mount more of a challenge as they are a team that can score runs. This is the second year running that the Dodgers have come up short against the Phillies but they remain a talented ball club.
In the American League the New York Yankees face the Los Angeles Angels tonight in a must win game for LA. The Yankees lead the series 3-1 but the outcome is far from over. Two games have gone in to extra innings in this series and the Angels will fight to the end.
John Lackey is on the hill for the Angels tonight and he is pitching for the second time in this series. Lackey has a lot of talent and more importantly experience for this win or go home situation. Lackey pitched well in Game 1 but a series of errors by the Angels defense cost him dearly. This could be his last game in an Angels uniform as he is a free agent at the end of the season. Lackey will be keen to advertise his skills to the rest of the league and I think he could have a big night. In addition the Angels have nothing to lose tonight and will swing the bat at every opportunity.
New York start A.J Burnett tonight who has a huge range of pitches but he can be a little wayward. I really think Burnett could be vulnerable in the early part of this game and he is capable of giving up some early runs. I think the Angels are a decent bet tonight at [1.9] as they appear to have everything in their favour.
