"My money will be on Minnesota tonight as I think the Tigers may crack under this kind of pressure."
It's all going down to the wire in the North Star state tonight and punters will need nerves of steel to profit. Fortunately, Nick Shiambouros is on hand to select the best bets from the AL Central tie-breaker...
Minneapolis is currently the focus of the sporting world as two huge stories unfold in this beautiful part of the globe.
Last night Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre handed out a 30-23 beating to his former team, the Green Bay Packers, with a sizzling display. Tonight many of the same fans will pack the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome again as the Minnesota Twins play the Detroit Tigers in a tiebreaker for the AL Central.
After playing 162 games both teams have the same record and whoever wins tonight will advance to the play-offs which begin on Wednesday.
On the hill for Minnesota is Scott Baker with a record of 15-9 and an ERA of 4.36. Baker has been on fire for the Twins in the second half of the season. This right-hander is no stranger to pressure and has kept the Twins in the play-off picture with a couple of solid recent efforts against Detroit.
The Tigers start Rick Porcello who boasts a decent record of 14-9 and a respectable ERA of 4.04. Porcello is a very capable pitcher with good control and a decent breaking ball. The bad news for the Tigers is that he is 0-2 in the Metrodome and this could be a huge factor tonight.
The Twins come in to this game with all the momentum and have won 16 of their past 20 games. On this current form, as well as playing in a dome, is a huge advantage for them.
My money will be on Minnesota tonight as I think the Tigers may crack under this kind of pressure. There is no question the home crowd will play a huge part in this game.
Baseball does not get any more exciting than this and ESPN America will be showing this game live from 10.00pm on Sky (430).
