Ivey, considered by almost everyone to be the greatest poker player of all-time, walked away with $765,000 profit last week, the bulk of which, $373,000, was won in a $2,000/$4,000 fixed limit Hold'em match
Whilst Gus Hansen is busy trying to prove that he is the worst online poker player of all time by losing over $7,700,000 over the past three years, Phil Ivey is doing the complete opposite and is well on his way to being able to brag about winning a staggering $20,000,000 from online poker.
Ivey, considered by almost everyone to be the greatest poker player of all-time, walked away with $765,000 profit last week, the bulk of which, $373,000, was won in a $2,000/$4,000 fixed limit Hold'em match against "deprimiert" over the course of just 334 hands.
He also managed to take $257,000 in 239 hands from the bankroll of former CardRunners pro Cole South in a $300/$600 Pot-limit Omaha match-up. The biggest hand of the session topped the scales at $146,571 when Ivey raised to $2,000 preflop and then called South's raise to $6,200. The flop came down Qd7s5c, South lead out with a $8,700 bet and Ivey simply called. On the arrival of the Jh on the turn South fired out a pot sized bet of $30,000 and then called off his remaining chips when Ivey min-raised to $60,000.
Ivey was nicely in front holding AdQcJd9d for top two pair whilst South trailed heavily with AcQhTh2s for top pair and a gutshot. The 5s on the river sent the pot in Ivey's direction and by the time the session had finished Ivey was showing as having profits of $19,044,447 according to the HighstakesDB website.
Ivey's poker account will also be showing an extra $500,000 in it today, as he has acted as an escrow service, after Daniel "jungleman12" Cates transferred him half a million dollars, which means he has formally accepted Tom Dwan's "durrrr challenge." Dwan had repeatedly said he wants to play at least one full set of 50,000 hands before he flies out to London for the WPT London, World Series of Poker Europe and EPT London festivals, meaning we should be in for some high-stakes action very soon.
