Betfair Poker changed forever on Tuesday 27 July when it made the switch to the superb software now dubbed Betfair Poker 2 but one thing that stayed the same was the excellent standard of some of the regulars players we had all come to know over the years.
The previous highest weekly tournament on the old Betfair Poker client was the $510 entry fee $40,000 Guaranteed but now, thanks to increased liquidity, Betfair Poker offers a weekly $200,000 guaranteed tournament with a buy-in of only $200!
The new $200,000 Champion Chip tournament has proven very popular with new and old Betfair Poker customers alike, even more so after this week's performances. No fewer than six players made it into the top 13 places, including three reaching the final table, an absolutely amazing set of performances. LOL TILT was the first to reach the big money, winning $1,597.10 for his 13th place finish and he was joined by Razorscutle in 12th place, worth a cool $2,043.60.
FFREAKSHOWW narrowly missed out on a final table appearance by finishing in 11th spot though I am sure the $2,043.60 prize money will have gone some way to consoling him. On the final table Cigar71's luck ran out and he picked up $3,237.13 for coming ninth, whilst filis7979 went one better, or should that be four better, by finishing in 5th place for a cool $8,887.50! However, a special mention has to go to Slaven11 who fell at the final hurdle to finish in second place for a staggering $22,668.52. Amazing achievements from the players in the Betfair camp.
Team Betfair have been out in force the the $12,000 GTD Nightly Rehab with _dp _ , rose123, boycs01, Pepper Army and Graaiknuist all putting in notable performances in the past week or so. However, last night kl0_23 out did them all by taking down the entire tournament for a payday just short of $3,500. Congratulations!
Last but certainly not least are two players who came ever so close to taking down Saturday's $40,000 Euro Grand Prix for combined scores of over $13,000. LegatoBF, a serial casher on the old Betfair Poker site continued his great form to finish third in this tournament for $5,500 and he was kept company on the final table by &&&&&&&&&&& who busted out in second place for $7,623.
Do not forget you still have time to qualify for the 2010 World Series of Poker Europe. On Sunday 5 September at 1600 UK time there will be a $215 qualifier for Event #3 of the WSOPE where two $2,150 packages are guaranteed. Both E_V_V_O and x_dinamoz claimed their seats in Sunday's game, you could be joining them and a host of well-known pros when the WSOPE descends on London in two week's time. Qualification is possible from just $0.50!
