Eighty-two players sat down on Sunday 28th February to compete in Betfair's popular Sunday night Flagship tournament - the $40k GTD.

Among the regulars was Betfair Pro John Kunkuwap Tabatabai but it was the inventively named HAHA U SUCK who took down the tournament shortly after midnight after a short heads-up battle with schapp.

HAHA U SUCK $12,300
Schapp $8,200
antiGravity $4,920
yanl44 $4,100
TJ Cookier $3,280
alevos $2,665
Patacchi $2,255
Lewis147 $1,845
TheSpirit $1,435

Final table starting stacks

schapp 110k
HA HA U SUCK 95k
antiGravity 45k
TheSpirit 39k
yanl44 34k
TJ Cookier 28k
Petacchi 26k
Lewis147 18k
alevos 10k

An early casualty at the final table was TheSpirit with the blinds 600/1200 (120). Calling from the small blind he faced a raise of 2,400 from schapp. Without much hesitation he re-raised all-in and was quickly called by the chip leader. His 3c3s was somewhat dominated by AhAc. While the flop of 6h5s6s brought some straight possibilities, the J10 on the turn and river sealed his fate.

A short-stacked alevos put his tournament life on the line a couple of hands later when facing resistance from yanl44 in the small blind to his raise of 3600 from utg+1. Set all in by yanl44, alevos quickly called and turned over a pair of fours which held up against his opponents AK and even rivered a flush for good measure.

antiGravity (56k) and TJ Cookier (21k) clashed blind on blind in the next major confrontation with the former going all-in but was quickly called by TJ Cookier. The board helped no one and it was the latter who doubled up. His KQo dominating the aggressor's weak Q3o.

Next to double up was Petacchi (14k) whose shove with AQo was called by the eventual tournament winner HAHA U SUCK (95k) with KcJc. The aggressor prevailed with an Ace on the board giving Petacchi a timely boost to his stack.

Lewis147 (15k) was next out when defending his big blind with a re-raise all-in to antiGravity (30k) with the blinds now at 1,500. His KQo proving too weak against AJo. A Queen hit the flop but so did an Ace sending him to the rail with a $1845 payday.

A couple of hands later Petacchi was gone. His standard 3x raise from utg+1 was met with a 12k re-raise from antiGravity on the button. After a short think, Petacchi re-raised all-in for his tournament life turning over AQo but probably wished he hadn't when faced with AdKd and the board ran dry.

A blind on blind confrontation crippled the eventual winner HAHA U SUCK shortly afterwards

Faced with a small raise from the comfortable chip leader schapp, TJ Cookier (38k) in the small blind went all-in for his tournament life with HAHA U SUCK (65k) quickly calling him. With schapp getting out of the way, the big blind turns over AJo and must have been happy as TJ Cookier revealed a bluff of 10c5s. The board would be unkind to the eventual winner - 7d10h6c4d8c.

However, he quickly doubled up courtesy of schapp in similar suck out circumstances. His 3d5d proving too strong for his opponents KQo!

The short stacked alevos was next to depart when his A3o was met with TJ Cookier's A7o but it would be long before TJ Cookier hit the rail.

With the blinds at 1250/2500 TJ (68K) called a small raise on the button from antiGravity (77k) in the cut off. The flop came down Jd7d5d. He once again called a small raise with the 6s falling on the turn. A more aggressive 13k raise failed to move Cookier off his hand and we saw the 7s fall on the river. With 56k already in the pot antiGravity shoved for his tournament life and after tanking Cookier called for the remainder of his chips tabling J8o for two pair. Unfortunately for him antiGravity showed 3d9d for a flopped flush.

At 4-handed the chips stacks

antiGravity 142k
schapp 121k
HAHA U SUCK 77k
yanl44 56k

The chip leader would increase his stack further and knock out yanl44 in the following hand. A bout of raising and re-raising led the pair to see a flop of Ac3h10h. Check-raised all-in, yanl44 showed Jh9h for flush and straight possibilities against AsKd. The turn of Qs brought definite straight chance for both. The river was the Jc and yanl44 left the table with $4,100 for his fourth place finish.

The hand that turned the tournament in the winner's favour and meant the eventual heads up battle was over relatively quicker played out like this.

With the blinds at 1500/3000 (300) HAHA U SUCK (149k) on the button raised to 6,000. schapp (125k) in the small blind folded. antiGravity (132k) shoved. A moments pause and he is called. The cards are on their back. HAHA U SUCK 3s3c. antiGravity Ad5d. The flop of Qs7s4h helps nobody. a 7d on the turn and a 7c on the river send antiGravity packing.

A short heads up battle ensued with a pair of threes once again being the lucky hand for HAHA U SUCK as he beat his opponents pair of twos in a classic race.
