Greyhound Grand National Betting: Big Brett is the banker at Wimbledon

Wimbledon expert Darrell Williams previews Tuesday night's action at the track

Jason Foster holds all the aces in the Grand National final from Wimbledon tonight, as he fields both Kildare Lark and Smooth Turbo, the two market leaders, as the hurdlers take centre stage in an eight race live Sky Sports extravaganza.

Foster's father Tommy was renowned as the 'king of the hurdlers', winning the National three times, and his skill with the timber merchants has certainly rubbed off onto his offspring, with Foster junior perhaps a shade disappointed that he fields only two finalists considering he had been responsible for five runners at the semi final stage!

Kildare Lark, despite being crowned Hurdler of the Year in 2007, only reached the semi-final of this event last year, and while he won the Racing Post Hurdles final, it was his consistency - he was also third in the Champion Hurdle and Irish Grand National - that probably secured him the honour.

A win in the National itself would therefore surely put the record straight, and he was my original ante-post choice before the opening round. I still believe he has every chance of collecting, but if I was playing now, or even looking for a spot of security, it's kennelmate Smooth Turbo that makes more appeal. Like Kildare Lark, he boasts plenty of experience, having won a Crayford competition more than a year ago, but it's his current rich vein of form that swings the scales in his favour. A winner of 12 of his 21 races since July, he defends the only unbeaten record in the National, having readily beat Kildare Lark in the semi-final, and from what appeared a disadvantageous draw. It's been his trapping that has been the key to Smooth Turbo's success, and I could easily see him dominate again granted a half decent start, which therefore makes his status as only second favourite a little surprising, although given Kildare Lark's ante-post liabilities understandable.

I'm also snapping up what looks a fair price about Big Brett Coal in the stayers' race at 9.10, more so given his rapid clock at Walthamstow the other night. Seamus Cahill's runner delivered maximum points for his handler as part of his successful Trainers' Championship bid over CD last month. While Primitive Way warrants respect after breaking the track record over 645m at Oxford in front of Sky cameras three weeks ago, the selection simply does not run a bad race - he has been out of the first three only once in his last 15 outings. With David Pruhs' runner awkwardly drawn in three, I make Big Brett Coal the bet of the night.

Droopys Mikel
can benefit from Karen Prince's efforts to send him down to Wimbledon for a couple of recent trials - both of which confirm his status as a high class youngster - by winning the puppy race at 8.15. A close-up third in the Midland Puppy Derby, he came into that event with only one recent race under his belt and if the trials are to be heeded still looks on the upgrade.

Peterborough Marathon winner last weekend Genesis Alix can follow that success by reversing recent Walthamstow form with Dubai Adventure, in a race where the selection had his chance severely reduced by a mid race bump, by taking the marathon at 8.35.
