Mike Joyce

Mike is a host, handicapper and reporter for TVG Network, an international horseracing network with a distribution of 30 million homes in the U.S. and over 60 million homes worldwide. Born into a horseracing family, Mike claims to have learned to read from the The Daily Racing Form. Among his earliest memories is being banned from the Directors’ Room at Arlington Park at age three after trying to get his waiter to cash one of his bets. Mike has spent his entire working life in the gaming industry, getting his first job at Wyoming Downs when he was 11 years old for $5 a night.

By the time he was 20, Mike had done just about every job at the racetrack, from raking the paddock stalls between races to taking entries and writing races. After Mike joined TVG in the fall of 2001, it took him less than three years to get an on-air assignment. His persistence and enthusiasm had a lot to do with his quick rise, as well as his extensive experience as a horseplayer.

Mike has established himself as one of TVG’s most popular and versatile talents, appearing on every major program from the critically acclaimed The Works to the daily live broadcasts of Trackside Live and The Quarters, and on occasion, he has even been known to crash Lady Luck.

Mike’s coverage of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup World Championships was seen again this year on ATR, the British horseracing network that can be seen throughout Ireland and the U.K.
