Malcolm has been a horseracing journalist since 1988 and has enjoyed stints at Racecall, Racing & Football Outlook, Ladbrokes and William Hill. He has contributed to many publications including the Racing Post as well as inaugurating and editing Ladbrokes Sporting News and The Racecall Club Magazine.

After a spell in the North West, where he worked at Haydock, Aintree, Chester and Bangor, Malcolm recently returned to the South of England. He has ridden out for various racing stables including regularly partnering Forest Ivory who had previously finished fourth to Istabraq in the Sun Alliance Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
