Jaymes Monte

I am a Sunderland fan who has endured the highs and extreme lows of the club since the age of 8. From the mundane nothingness of the pre-Peter Reid era, to the glorious heights of Super Kev and Mighty Quinn and finishing 7th two seasons in a row, then back again through the agony of becoming the worst team in premiership history…… TWICE! (Heartfelt thanks go out to Derby County!) And now a renewed, often dangerous, optimism courtesy of Niall Quinn complete with his Discopants and his band of Irish friends with their pot of gold and the Roy Keane charm.
I grew up in Sunderland and spent the later years of my childhood in Scotland, finishing school in Carnoustie then onto University in Edinburgh. Going to school on the doorstep of one of the world’s most famous golf courses didn’t improve my game to the level you might think; in fact it didn’t improve it at all. After studying Mathematics in University, developing a more than keen interest in betting during those long hours that were meant to be spent studying, and continuing to follow as many sports as possible, I figured there was no better way to combine my interests than a career in the betting industry. Those plans were set in motion when a short stint at Ladbrokes was followed by joining the Market-Operations team at Betfair.
