Timeform Greyhound SmartPlays: Meteoric is on the Rise

Mustang Focus (Trap 3, 15.38) arrives on a losing run of six, yet Brian Thompson's bitch has already proven this class is within compass, turning handy and bolting up by 3 ½ lengths in August. Not at her very best of late, the July 18' whelp is hardly surrounded by early-paced types and may well have a chance of turning handy, with that in mind she's expected to be seen in a much better light.

Meteoric Rise (Trap 6, 17.54) has yet to get the hang of the trapping game but the April 19' youngster has plenty of time on his side to rectify that and he caught the eye on his first competitive start 9 days ago, coming from an unpromising position to take second late in the day, improving his final time in the process. It's fair to say this is an A6 lacking a great deal of depth and the son of Holden Spy can come fast and late and make it second time lucky.

A winner on debut back in August it's fair to say Corrin Ralf (Trap 3, 20.27) has improved again despite meeting with defeat subsequently, going down narrowly on his penultimate start and getting no luck-in-running last time. Low-mileage given he's over already over 2-y-o, he may not have reached his limit in form terms just yet and provided he gets around bends 1 & 2 unscathed, is fancied to prove the one to beat with his strong-running style.
