"While I’ve no intention of putting off anybody who wants to ‘lump on’ the favourite, from an odds perspective my cash will be carried by wide-running Farloe Lee in trap six.
He did nothing wrong when winning his heat – a first start since April – and should enjoy a clear run tonight. At [6.0] if nothing else he rates the value"

Sheffield plays host to the Sky Sports greyhound cameras tonight for the Steel City Cup final where Mill Pinpoint looks the one to beat, but is he value at around [2.4] asks Darrell Williams?

Kelly Macari's runner has done nothing wrong in his quest to provide his young handler with the biggest win of her career so far, and if reproducing his first round defeat of Sheffield specialist Magna Venturer will simply prove too fast for the opposition in tonight's Category One showdown.

However, a draw outside fast trapping Elwick Chris is potentially fraught with danger, especially with every chance of Michael Walsh's runner improving again given he had been off the track for two months prior to this competition. I'm not convinced however that even he is a value alternative, and while I've no intention of putting off anybody who wants to 'lump on' the favourite, from an odds perspective my cash will be carried by wide-running Farloe Lee in trap six.

Charlie Lister's runner looked to have all before him last summer after reaching three major finals, but has endured a difficult time since with just a handful of runs since last December. But the well bred son of Brett Lee -he is a half-brother to amongst others kennelmate Fear Zafonic - did nothing wrong when winning his heat - a first start since April - and should enjoy a clear run tonight outside local grader, albeit a rapidly improving one, Oneco Black. At [6.0] if nothing else he rates the value.

Sheffield's supporting card is a mix between 'impossible' races and a brace of 'good things' and I have no intention of trying to be clever by taking on Lister's Boher Paddy in the Puppy race (2015). In fact, I'd rate him as a youngster to follow, and a likely future big race winner, after he showed great maturity to win at Nottingham the other night, despite things not initially going his way.

Blue Artisan (2035), frustratingly unable to fulfill his Select Stakes gig on that same televised card, should gain small compensation, although the odds do look a little skinny at around [1.5].

The rest of the card is open to plenty of debate, but I'm happy to stay loyal to Magna Venturer in the 2125. The 'course specialist' ran better than a four length defeat to Steel City Cup favourite Mill Pinpoint might suggest in the heats, especially given that was achieved in the fastest time for the CD this year, and at around [4.5] he could prove the bet of the night.

England Expects has been almost unstoppable over six bends and will have plenty of supporters in the 2110, but he will need to clear Razzmatazz and after backing Fabulous Mind the other night I'm staying loyal to Dave Firmager's runner, who had some top class form prior to her absence.

Ten Dollars More could be massively over-priced in the 2000 on his best form, and I'll certainly be saving on him, but Droopys Eugene has the plot draw inside five seeds, and Elaine Parker's runner boasts excellent CD credentials which must make him the selection.

Selections:
Farloe Lee 2145
Magna Venturer 2125
Boher Paddy 2015
Fabulous Mind 2110
Droopys Eugene 2000
