Darrell Williams picks his fancies for Tuesday night's Wimbledon action

The eagerly awaited Betfair Trainers Championship meeting at Wimbledon on Tuesday looks certain to live up to its prestigious billing with a host of big name greyhounds doing battle for the country's top six handlers, with all action live on Sky Sports.

I'll turn my attention to the individual races in a moment, but its also worth getting involved in the outright betting, with last year's winner Charlie Lister a short priced favourite to repeat the feat. That's understandable, given the likes of Ninja Jamie and Farloe Reason (to name but two) likely to score well. But as the TV programme used to say 'points make prizes' and while a banker or two will help, you ideally want enough strength in depth to ensure you can score well in all eight legs.

While Lister could win again, Mark Wallis makes more appeal at the prices, with a couple of potential winners (see below) plus a stack of likely strong scorers, and remember Wallis, the 2006 winner, very nearly came from an impossible position to topple Lister last year.

As for the individual races, part of the reason I'm so keen on a Wallis victory is that I fancy two of his runners strongest, with Aero Blackjack, who goes in the 'A' stayers race at 9.25 the best of the pair. A fast (2788) winner over 460m here on Juvenile night, he proved six bends held no fears when scooting up at Walthamstow on Arc final night, and can make a bold bid to make all the running over the 668m here. While Butterbridge Ali who goes in the 'B' stayers at 8.35 perhaps doesn't stand out quite so obviously, his recent Walthamstow trial coupled with a win in the first round of last year's Leger over CD makes him the pick in one of the weaker races. While the Golden Jacket semi-finalist's strike rate could perhaps be better, there are plenty of concerns about the quality and stamina of the opposition and he gets a solid vote.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Elaine Parker do well, with Mahers Boy perhaps her best chance of success in the sprint at 8.00. While the trap four draw immediately serves to put you off, his record when drawn in the middle reads well, and although a trial would have helped, the Sheffield raider comes here in fine fettle with four recent sprint wins, and of course, a four-bend profile - he won last year's William Hill Classic at Sunderland - that augurs well for a big run.

I'm also keen on Parker's Wright Signal in the 'A' Standard race at 9.10, who while unraced since taking third in January's Birmingham Cup final, is another highly reliable sort, who hinted at his credentials here with a decent trial - his first look at Wimbledon - last week.

Charlie Lister will be expected to strike with Farloe Reason in the 8.50, but I'll be taking him on with Toosey Blue. A winner here over 460m on the same night Farloe Reason finished third in the Juvenile, John Mullins' charge is a dual Category One finalist, and might just be a spot of value against a rival who now takes on his elders and is unraced since a defeat here a month ago.

The champion's Ninja Jamie has gained plenty of admirers with a brace of fast wins here last month, but faces far stiffer opposition in the final leg at 9.45. He could easily come through it earning even more plaudits, but again from a value perspective Kilkenny Lonjack offers plenty of temptation. While Seamus Cahill's runner has to turn round Arc form with Centaur Decree, he took well to Wimbledon in a trial last week and with rails runner Boherna On Air drawn inside ensuring plenty of racing room, the selection could just spring an upset.
