Daily Dogs Bets: Blaze of glory!

Romford stage three heats of a stayers' competition this evening, all live in the betting shops, and all three offer good betting opportunities, writes Darrell Williams.

Undoubtedly the best bet of the night is Go Big Hitter in the first heat (7:27).

Dean Childs' runner was imperious when winning the Essex Vase final three weeks ago, and as his trainer remarked is clearly made for Romford. While his draw could be better, trap three is hardly a disaster and his class should see him through with few problems. Main rival Malbay Fletcher, who should help to make the market, is poorly berthed in four and anything above so [1.7] should be snapped up.

The second heat (7:58) is far more competitive, and while I'm keen on progressive youngster Centurion Enry, who has won his last three starts over CD and was also runner-up in the Gymcrack back in June, the more logical bet might be a lay of Droopys Carvalho. John Mullins' charge admittedly has an excellent record at the track, but may not clear neighbour Westmead Prima and with a record of only one win in his last six starts over this 575m journey, a lay at [2.8] or better is probably the safest option.

White Blaze, fourth in the Essex Vase final, and a kennelmate of Centurion Enry for trainer Paul Young, looks plotted up outside five railers in the other heat (8:31) and can continue his good run of form by making it three wins in his last five outings over the trip. I'd be looking for [2.3] or bigger.
