"Quick Molly (trap two) has the fastest recent time and she may well get first run on the trap one runner here - and that could be crucial to the result as if she could secure the slot on the rails ahead of her rival inside, she would be in an excellent position to attack down the far side and into the straight as she does stay on particularly well."

The 6.28pm at Sunderland tonight is full of early paced types and the race looks set up for one of the railers to stay on and take this contest close home.
Quick Molly (trap two) has the fastest recent time and she may well get first run on the trap one runner here - and that could be crucial to the result as if she could secure the slot on the rails ahead of her rival inside, she would be in an excellent position to attack down the far side and into the straight as she does stay on particularly well.
The May 2006 whelp has been slowly away on both of her last two starts, and has had to work her way from being last with a circuit to run - but each time she has run on past beaten dogs. When she has broken well (three runs ago) she has stayed on stoutly, and it may be that trap three, five and six - all who possess good early - will be coming back to her in the closing stages.
Her kennelmate in trap three will lead her early on, but that one does not rail or stay, and with space assured on that ones inside all around the 450 metre trip, if Quick Molly was to be in a good early position around the first bend, I can see her nipping up the inside in the home straight. Back her at anything over [4.0].
There are no less than three top grade contests at Newcastle this afternoon, but I think I've found one in an A3 at 3.18pm. Up Tempo is a dog readers of this column will know. I have selected him in the past, and this race looks made for the Sonic Flight April 2006 whelp.
Drawn in trap one I'm banking on him getting an early lead up the inside with trap two looking a danger for that early leading role. However, Up Tempo has shown blistering early pace up to the first bend on ocassions and if getting away to one of his better starts will take an awful lot of catching today. Last time out he ran on well to take second having missed the break, while four runs ago he led everywhere bar the line in 29.41 - in this grade. That run here would be enough to take this race and he should be backed at anything better than [3.2]
