Ed Nicholson takes a look at Sunderland's BAGs meeting this afternoon....
"Too Late (2.57pm) runs in the third race on the card from trap two and this black August 2007 bitch has a nice draw from which to operate as both the one and three dogs are relatively slowly away. Too Late should have an uncontested lead in and out of the first two bends and a recent recorded time on 28.19 seconds demonstrates she stays well in this grade "
Sunderland BAGS meetings are difficult to price up. I've noticed that favourites tend to be, on occasions way too short for what are usually competitive enough affairs on paper.
This does though provide the Betfair greyhound punter with an opportunity to lay dogs at fair prices, while it also means that dogs with average chances of winning do, on occasions, go off at double figure Betfair exchange prices.
As with most greyhound tracks (notably Crayford) a good early position goes a long way to winning at Sunderland. However, the long straights over this 450 metres trip means that those with early do have to stay, as early speedsters do tend to come back to their field.
Today's BAGS card provides a few good opportunities to make some money with early paced individuals who have proven form in their respective grades and that tend to stay on well at their level.
Too Late (2.57pm) runs in the third race on the card from trap two and this black August 2007 bitch has a nice draw from which to operate as both the one and three dogs are relatively slowly away. Too Late should have an uncontested lead in and out of the first two bends and a recent recorded time on 28.19 seconds demonstrates she stays well in this grade (joint fastest in the race). Too Late takes a drop in grade into this A6 grade and is 1-1 at this level, while she has won 3-13 in the blue jacket. Any trouble in behind will help - but I would be very worried if the five runner, Witches Pansy, follows her around as that one is on a hat trick and stays well. But she is now in A6 grade having contested A8's two weeks ago. Back Too Late at anything over [3.0].
The last race on Sunderland's card at 6.18pm provides us with possibly the best value bet of the day. Trap 6, Speak Out Gerald, has the second best recent time in the race and although he has to reverse placings with the five runner, I think we'll get a touch of value as I'm not too sure the five runner will get past our fellow this afternoon.
Speak Out Gerald shows early and should lead the field on the outside. Being the only wide seed, I can see him nipping across his field at the first bend, and then veering to the outside once again. He has won 4-14 in this grade and an impressive 8-29 in the striped jacket. Back him at anything bigger than [6.0]
