"I can see Weastmead Logan stretching clear down the long back straight here tonight. He may well be odds on, but at anything bigger than [1.6] I would argue he would be value against his rivals in heat five at 8.36pm."
Ed Nicholson casts his beady eye over Nottingham's Produce Stakes heats tonight.....
There's a nice mix of open and graded racing at Nottingham this evening and I think there are a couple of opportunities on their card to make some money!
The eight Open races on their BAGS card are all eight heats for the first round of the Nottingham Produce Stakes.
And I reckon Nick Savva's Westmead Logan (trap 3 in 8.36pm) should not be missed, even at odds on; around 1.60.
The Greyhound Puppy Derby Champion should enjoy running at Colwick Park as his race record indicates he is far more at home when he can use his stride. It's true he was beaten in his last competitive outing, but that was at the tight Romford track, and having stumbled at the start and therefore missing the kick, he was always going to find it difficult to come from the back and past all five dogs over 400 metres. However, in the end he did remarkably well to get to within 3.5 lengths of the winner and I can see him stretching clear down the long back straight here tonight. He may well be odds on, but at anything bigger than [1.6] I would argue he would be value against his rivals in heat five at 8.36pm.
He has already had a sprint trial and a four bend trial here in the last two weeks and he should have no trouble at leading the inside duo. He could well win in a fast time tonight given the trap draw.
I could be a good night for Nick Savva and I take his kennels to complete a quick fire double by winning the very next heat at 8.52pm with trap one, Westmead Wings.
This September 2007 Droopys Woods dog is not blessed with early, but he has a great draw from which to operate as traps two and three are not exactly ferraris off the blocks themselves and Westmead Wings could even be leading on the inside coming out of the second turn. Trap five, Greenacre Josh will be huge odds on to lead out of the first turn in the race itself, but there are question marks about him staying there as the pagpeg looms into view as four of his rivals run on well. Let's take anything over [3.20] on Westmead Wings tonight.
