"Pevensey Soda is 5-13 in this grade, and has won 12 races in total. However, she hasnt won for 17 runs! But this represents her easiest chance for sometime and she should lead around here. If that was to be the case, it would take an above average performance from one of the other dogs to beat her and she rates NAP material at anything over [3.0]."
Ed Nicholson continued his excellent week with another winner yesterday available at 4.3. Today he travels to the Sussex coast to take a look at Hove's afternoon's meeting, and likes the look of three greyhounds running today....
Hove is a track I like. The galloping nature of the circuit provides dogs with a fair test of ability, and the races are usually well graded. However, I've noticed that from time to time, greyhounds are given a real chance at the track to either develop or to find their form. Either a youngster is given an opportunity to improve, or an older dog who has just been making up the numbers, is given a chance to shine. And I think I've found three of the latter today.
Gordons Revived runs in the opening contest at 2.08pm from trap two. The July 2007 whelp has run some 17 races at Hove, winning five, and he's got a 2-5 record in this A9 grade. He has recorded a 30.90 - which makes him one of the fatest dogs in the race on paper, and he should get a good run around the opening two turns, as he has a middle running dog on his outside, and should have the eary pace to sneak ahead of the trap one runner on the run up. He rates a decent bet at anything over [4.0].
Caloona Cruz (4.27pm) has drawn the red jacket and that is a colour he likes to wear! 18 of his 22 victories at the track have been while wearing that trap number, and he is 1-1 in this A7 grade. He has been finding life difficult in A6 contests, and hasn't won for 12 runs - but he is one of those dogs who is probably just too good for A7 and not good enough for an average A6. He can go mighty close today from a trap draw that should see him lead around on the inside. The traps four and five are dangers, but we'll be getting a good price on our fellow - dont take anything less than [4.5]
Finally, about an hour later at 5.22pm, Pevensey Soda runs from trap two in a weak looking A11. She is 5-13 in this grade, and has won 12 races in total. However, she hasnt won for 17 runs! But this represents her easiest chance for sometime and she should lead around here. If that was to be the case, it would take an above average performance from one of the other dogs to beat her and she rates NAP material at anything over [3.0].
