"I’ve gone through Stonecross Babe’s lifetime form and when she’s led at the first bend she’s gone on to finish either first or second on all of those occasions. Last time she missed the break and was tailed off, but previous to that she had broken smartly, posting a 5.26 second sectional, and led all the way to record a 3.5 length victory at this level stopping the clock at a calculated 30.77 – and that’s the best recent time on show here."
Ed Nicholson has taken a look at tonight's Nottingham BAGS card and thinks he has found a couple of dogs to follow.....
Nottingham's 9.22pm is their best race of the evening - a top grade contest featuring some very useful performers. But my money will be firmly on the white jacketed Stonecross Babe who has posted some fast times when on the bunny and looks capable of leading his field early on tonight.
I've gone through her lifetime form and when she's led at the first bend she's gone on to finish either first or second on all of those occasions. Last time she missed the break and was tailed off, but previous to that she had broken smartly, posting a 5.26 second sectional, and led all the way to record a 3.5 length victory at this level stopping the clock at a calculated 30.77 - and that's the best recent time on show here.
She'll take some beating if turning out of the first two bends in the lead and should be backed at anything over [2.8].
The meeting starts, as it always does on a Friday, at 6.28pm, and we only have to wait a further 20 minutes at 6.48pm for the first bet of the day.
Hollyoak Dali in trap six looks to have a nice draw in which to operate and provided he can miss any crowding (he ran into trouble last time) at the first couple of bends, he does look likely to hit the front at some stage during the race. In fact, it isn't an impossibility that he could lead or be in second place (behind the trap five runner) at the first turn given the recent relative sectionals of the six runners. If he was to lead at this stage I can see him sprinting away from his field, but even if he turns handily on the outside, he should still have enough back straight pace to hit the front and keep his nose ahead all the way to the line. Take anything bigger than [3.5].
