"Although he is capable of running past dogs, Bunnow Iseq's forte is undoubtedly his early pace, and he should be able to get past the dogs on his immediate outside in three and five early on and secure an early lead here."
Ed Nicholson was a short head away from anding both his recommendations last night at Nottingham. He correctly forecast that a lay of Ninja Jamie (SP 4/6) was the bet in the 9.22pm, but was undone by a short head when Eye Onthe Storm - going for his 10th consecutive victory - could finish just a short head second (SP 10/11) in the 8.14pm. Today he's got his eye on Newcastle's evening meeting.....
David Calvert has a very fast greyhound on his hands in Bunnow Iseq, a September 2006 whelp. And given the way the race is set to pan out I take him to win the best race on Newcastle's evening BAGS card at 20.36pm.
Although he is capable of running past dogs, Bunnow Iseq's forte is undoubtedly his early pace, and he should be able to get past the dogs on his immediate outside in three and five early on and secure an early lead here.
If, as expected, he leads out of the first corner, a nervous eye should be cast back to the inside runners as both traps one and two would be real dangers if turning handy. They both stay this trip well and if either got a clear run to the opening bends then our selection could be vulnerable late on.
But given the draw there's every chance that they could bustle up each other and hand the initiative to Bunnow Iseq, who has won more races at Newcastle than any of his rivals and also boasts the quickest breaking time. He should be backed at anything better than [3.8].
The concluding event in front the SIS cameras is the 9.22pm and this can go the way of the blue jacketed Blackhousebreeze.
Although only a February 2008 whelp, and by far the youngest dog in the line up, he has won more times than any other dog in this grade, bar the trap four runner. He has recently been running in A1 class, but is back in his favourite grade here, A2, as the transition to the top tier is just a little beyond him at present.
He should take a handy position early on by chasing the early paced trap one runner and can use his class to come through in the second half of the race. Take anything better than [2.9].
