Seamus Cahill-runner attempts to land first win on English soil tonight!
Expect a big run from Betfair Star - who in the 9.03pm at Walthamstow tonight (475-metres A6) - will attempt to get off the mark in only his third start in the UK.
The September '06 puppy won his only race on Irish soil in a slick 29.21sec over 480 metres at Thurles in May but has been unlucky in his two starts at the Stow since joining Seamus Cahill there.
"We think he is going to be decent and if we are right he would have to win his next race," said Cahill of Betfair Star, a litter-brother and kennel mate of Cool Cashin, already established as a talented Open racer in Britain.
Betfair Star is due to start from trap two tonight, which, according to Cahill, is his best trap-position on what is so far known about the black son of Head Bound - Shanteen Lass, and he can be fancied to win if getting away to a good start.
Cahill said: "I would like to see a little more early pace - which I think we can coax out of him - and to be honest if that is the case then I would expect him to win.
"The dog on his inside is unlikely to pose too much of a threat on the run-up and I would think our lad can lead round the opening bend."
Tullymurry Jolly, in trap four, is dropping down in class and could prove the chief threat to Betfair Star.
Cahill, who will take up a training appointment at Hove after Walthamstow closes on August 16, thinks the long term prospects for Betfair Star are encouraging.
He said: "He is a nice stamp of a dog that has settled in well with us. I like the look of his Irish card and expect him to shape into a fair sort given time."
